The Smell of Temptations...
I've been forced to exhibit some extreme self control as a grocer. Every time I work in the bread department or in produce, I get bombarded with some amazing aromas!! I just want to rip open a package of bread and stuff my face with it! Or when I have to put out some fresh strawberries, I want to crack open the container and just cram strawberries into my mouth until I can't eat any more and just pass out from the euphoria!!
Sounds crazy. I'm aware of this. But I have to be honest, the temptation to do that is strong. The smells are just incredible and I just...oh how I wish I could dump a whole container of beautiful, brightly coloured raspberries into my mouth!!
But alas, I can't. I have to exhibit self control. I have to take a deep breath, take that loaf of bread or the fresh fruit or whatever it is, and put it on the shelf, nice and neatly, and just dream of a time when I finally get the chance to engorge myself on all that beautiful produce...

19 Cents Each...Please Take the Bunch?
I've recently started a new job at a grocery store. There's a lot of things there that annoying me slightly from time to time, but most of these things are derived from past pet peeves which are...manifesting more so now that I work in a grocery store.
Recently, one of these pet peeves wasn't just poked, it was stabbed with an annoying banana.
I REALLY dislike it when people take a bunch of bananas and rip off 1 or 2 and leave the rest there or they decide that they don't like how 1 or 2 bananas look compared to the rest of the 6-10 bananas on the bunch so they pick those two off and leave them behind. It's always been something I've disliked.
As a kid, I hated this because I felt bad for those left behind. It seemed to my young mind like a family was being separated, and that always made me a little sad.
In my adult years, I find it annoying.
What I found most annoying in this my first week of being a grocer, was when I was putting out more bananas and people came up, looked at a few bunches, picked out 1 or 2 they liked, or didn't like, and left with only 1 or 2 bananas or just a partial bunch. A part of me wanted to just scream and demand why they would do that. Why is only 1 banana good enough or why isn't the whole bunch good enough to go home with them?! Childish? Maybe. Crazy. Oh yeah, there's no denying that!!
Regardless, it was driving me bonkers. Twice I had to put out more bananas and many times over, I was driven bonkers by customers not needing a full bunch.
Let's just hope I get over my craziness and am able to just...deal with this banana pet peeve of mine.
Until then, do me a favor, take the whole bunch. Please.
